Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

What Is PRP?

PRP, known as platelet-rich plasma, is an innovative and natural procedure used to increase hair growth and restore skin’s suppleness. Platelets are routinely processed to influence the body’s own healing mechanisms. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) can be used to treat a variety of different issues ranging from wrinkles, aging spots and sunspots, redness, thinning scalp hair and even split-ends.

Purposes of PRP injections

  • Scarring from acne
  • Hair loss
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Injuries
  • Loss of collagen and skin volume
  • Skin that needs toning or tightening
  • More

Benefits of PRP

While there are many different types of PRP effective treatments available today; most offer similar benefits as well as the same risks. Some of these potential advantages include:

  • Long-lasting results. Because the PRP is prepared by your very own system, it will cause your body to produce its own natural repair mechanisms. Your body will not have to work hard during the healing process.
  • Treatments don’t require downtime since they do not involve surgery or anesthesia. There is also no need to wear bandages afterwards.
  • Skin is left soft and smooth. Many women report less irritation after undergoing this type of treatment because it helps reduce inflammation in the skin.
  • No surgical procedure or incisions, which means minimal recovery time. You may experience some swelling but this usually subsides within 48 hours. Other minor side effects include itching, bruising, mild pain around the injection site, excessive sensitivity to cold temperatures and headaches.

How Does PRP Work?

PRP involves a 3-stage process where a sample of blood is first drawn. Then the blood is spun in a centrifuge which separates the blood into three parts. Platelets are separated out and are then injected into the scalp where they grow new hair. The whole procedure takes about 45 minutes.

PRP injection process

Prior to the Cosmetic PRP treatment, a consultation is done in order to assess your cosmetic needs and determine the right combination of treatments to you to get the desired results. A simple blood sample is taken and processed immediately in a specialized centrifuge to separate the Platelet Rich Plasma from the rest of the Blood.

Cleaning the area being treated, PRP is injected into your skin. Proper after-care and follow-up are done as a part of any treatment. PRP can be used for local injections on the face (nasolabial fold, dark rings, cheeks and jaws, periorbital areas, fine wrinkles in upper lip zone, nose and forehead wrinkles). Neck (Venus Circle), back of the hands and scalp. Hair Loss Treatment – PRP can be used in conjunction or independently with hair transplant.
